SB CAN Thanks Retiring Executive Director for Service
Santa Barbara County Action Network (SB CAN) thanks Deborah Brasket for her service as Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Santa Barbara County Action Network (SB CAN) commended Deborah Brasket during its meeting in March for her dedicated service as Executive Director. Deborah stepped down from her position to pursue personal goals effective April 1.
"Under Deborah's leadership, SB CAN has grown its membership base, strengthened its board of directors, and expanded its presence throughout Santa Barbara County," said Joann Marmolejo, SB CAN board president.
Deborah had been a member of the board of directors for five years before she became executive director in 2007. She will continue helping as a volunteer on the planning committee for SB CAN's North County Community Awards Dinner and Fundraiser on May 1.
The organization's administrative duties have been assumed by Joyce Howerton, SB CAN's Advocacy Director. Jeanne Sparks, who was one of the organization's first board members, is handling communications and coordinating events.
SB CAN works to promote social and economic justice, to preserve environmental and agricultural resources and to create sustainable communities. SB CAN advocates a holistic approach to community planning that integrates Housing, Open space, and Transportation (H.O.T. principles) to meet the needs of all members of our community and future generations.
The nonprofit works in cooperation with a broad range of progressive activists and organizations to ensure that all members of our community share a voice in our future.
